Overview
The Volkswagen T-Roc 2021 is a compact SUV that brings Golf-like ease of use to a raised, city-friendly package. In the UK it was sold in S, SE, SEL, R-Line and R trims, with the 1.0 TSI petrol and 1.5 TSI petrol engines forming the core of the range alongside TDI diesels. It is an easy car to live with: light steering, a high driving position and a footprint that fits British car parks and narrow streets.
Inside, the T-Roc is practical rather than plush. The dashboard is straightforward, the touchscreen is easy to reach, and there is a 445-litre boot that handles a weekly shop or a couple of suitcases without fuss. Rear legroom is adequate for adults on shorter trips, while the wide tailgate opening and low loading lip make the boot genuinely useful for families.
On the road, the 1.0 TSI is best for town and motorway cruising at a relaxed pace, while the 1.5 TSI adds stronger mid-range pull for overtaking. Most UK buyers will be happy with front-wheel drive and a manual gearbox, although DSG automatic and 4MOTION versions were available. For a compact SUV that is simple, efficient and easy to park, the 2021 T-Roc remains a sensible used and nearly-new choice.
