Overview

The Honda Jazz is the supermini for people who hate superminis. Every 2024 model is a hybrid, pairing a 1.5-litre petrol engine with Honda's e:HEV system for around 62mpg in everyday driving. Inside, the famous Magic Seats fold, flip and tip in clever ways, turning the cabin into a surprisingly capable load-lugger for a car this size. The driving feel is light and friendly, and visibility is excellent thanks to the tall glasshouse. It is not exciting, but it is honest: easy to park, cheap to run, and built with the care Honda is known for. For small families or older drivers who want comfort and practicality above image, the Jazz makes a very strong case.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Honda Jazz a good family car?
For small families it is excellent. The Magic Seats and tall cabin swallow prams and weekly shops, and the driving position suits nervous new drivers too. Only the plain styling lets it down for image-conscious buyers.
Is every 2024 Jazz a hybrid?
Yes. Honda made the Jazz hybrid-only in the UK, so every new 2024 model pairs the 1.5 petrol engine with the e:HEV system and a smooth automatic gearbox.
How practical are the Magic Seats?
Very. The rear seats fold flat, flip up cinema-style for tall items, and even the front passenger seat folds for long loads. It is MPV-level versatility in a supermini footprint.
Is the Jazz expensive to maintain?
Not particularly. Honda parts are sensibly priced, service intervals are generous, and hybrid braking wear is low. Insurance sits mid-pack at group 16.
