Overview
The SEAT Ateca is the family SUV for drivers who still enjoy driving. Sharing its underpinnings with the Skoda Karoq and Volkswagen T-Roc, the Spanish-built Ateca stands out with sharper styling and a chassis tuned for keener handling. The pick of the range is the 1.5 TSI petrol with 150PS, which offers a fine balance of pace and economy, while a 2.0 TSI with four-wheel drive tops the range for those wanting more.
Despite its sporty brief, the Ateca is thoroughly practical. The 510-litre boot is among the largest in the class, rear space is generous for adults, and the squared-off tail makes loading bulky items easy. On the road it feels agile and composed, with precise steering and tidy body control that put many rivals to shame — yet the ride remains comfortable enough for daily family duties.
Inside you get an 8.25-inch or 9.2-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, digital instruments on higher trims, and the usual SEAT flair in the detailing. Trims run SE, SE Dynamic, FR and FR Sport, plus the hot Cupra Ateca sold separately. Rivals include the Nissan Qashqai, Peugeot 3008 and Skoda Karoq. Sensible insurance groups, proven VW Group mechanicals and strong residuals make it a clever used and new buy.
