Overview

The Skoda Elroq is the electric Karoq that Skoda has been teasing for years — only it gets a name of its own. Launched in the UK from £31,500, it slots neatly beneath the larger Enyaq and brings Skoda's famed practicality to the compact electric SUV class at a genuinely competitive price.

Three versions are offered. The Elroq 50 uses a 52kWh usable battery with 168bhp and 232 miles of range; the 60 steps up to 59kWh, 201bhp and 258–265 miles; and the range-topping 85 gets a 77kWh battery, 282bhp and up to 355–360 miles. Every version is rear-wheel drive, with 0–62mph times of 9.0, 8.0 and 6.6 seconds respectively. DC rapid charging peaks at 165–175kW on the 85, so a 10–80% top-up takes around 28 minutes.

Skoda's "simply clever" touches are all present: a huge 470-litre boot, a 13-inch touchscreen with Laura voice control, useful storage bins everywhere, and a frunk for the charging cable. Standard safety kit includes adaptive cruise control, traffic-sign recognition and seven airbags.

With prices starting well under £32,000, generous standard equipment and that enormous range on the 85, the Elroq makes the petrol Karoq look hard to justify. It is one of the most convincing affordable EVs you can buy.

Frequently asked questions

Which Skoda Elroq should I buy?
The 60 hits the sweet spot: 201bhp, 258–265 miles of range and strong equipment for a reasonable step over the 50. Choose the 85 if you regularly drive long distances — its 355-plus miles rival cars costing far more.
Is the Skoda Elroq bigger than a Karoq?
No — the Elroq is actually slightly shorter than the Karoq, but clever packaging means the 470-litre boot is larger, and the flat floor gives more interior space.
How fast does the Skoda Elroq charge?
The 85 charges at up to 175kW DC, taking around 28 minutes for 10–80%. The 50 and 60 peak at lower rates but still complete a 10–80% charge in well under 35 minutes.
What is the real-world range of the Elroq 85?
Expect 280–310 miles in mixed UK driving, rising towards 330 in gentle summer conditions. The official WLTP figure is up to 355–360 miles depending on trim and wheels.
Does the Skoda Elroq have a heat pump?
A heat pump is available as an option on some trims but is not standard across the range, so check the specification of any used car carefully if you plan regular winter driving.
