Overview
The Jaecoo 5 is the smaller sibling of the Jaecoo 7, arriving in the UK in 2025 priced from £24,505 on the road. Where the 7 targets the Nissan Qashqai, the 5 goes after the Juke, Renault Captur and MG ZS — the booming compact crossover segment.
A 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing around 145–147hp and 275Nm drives the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. It covers 0–62mph in 10.2 seconds, reaches 113mph and officially returns around 40–41mpg. The 480-litre boot expands to 1,180 litres with the rear seats folded — generous for the class.
Two trims are offered: Pure and Luxury. Even the entry car gets a 13.2-inch touchscreen, 10.25-inch digital instruments, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 540-degree camera system, wireless phone charging and a full suite of driver-assistance systems including adaptive cruise control. Luxury adds heated and ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof and an eight-speaker Sony sound system.
Every Jaecoo 5 is covered by a seven-year/100,000-mile warranty. The badge is unknown in Britain and residuals are unproven, but as a well-equipped, practical and keenly priced small SUV, the 5 deserves a look from value-conscious family buyers.
