Overview

The second-generation Skoda Kodiaq arrived in the UK in 2024, building on the huge success of the original. At 4,758mm long, it is a properly big seven-seat SUV — yet UK prices started at just £36,645 for the SE five-seat 1.5 TSI e-TEC, undercutting the Land Rover Discovery Sport and most seven-seat rivals.

The entry engine is a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol with 48V mild-hybrid assistance, producing 150PS through a seven-speed DSG gearbox and front-wheel drive. It covers 0–62mph in 9.9 seconds, reaches 127mph, officially returns around 44.5mpg and emits 145g/km of CO2. A 2.0-litre diesel, a more powerful 2.0 TSI petrol with four-wheel drive, and a plug-in hybrid with over 75 miles of electric range broaden the choice.

Standard SE equipment includes 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, heated front seats, a 13-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital cockpit, three-zone climate control and blind-spot monitoring. The five-seat boot is a cavernous 910 litres (2,105 litres with seats folded); seven-seat models offer 340 litres with all rows raised and 2,035 litres folded flat.

Comfortable, cleverly packaged and great value, the new Kodiaq remains the default recommendation for families who need seven seats without premium prices. Only its sheer size in tight car parks gives pause.

Frequently asked questions

How much does the new Skoda Kodiaq cost?
UK prices started at £36,645 in 2024 for the SE five-seat 1.5 TSI e-TEC 150PS DSG. Seven-seat versions and higher trims (SE L, Sportline, vRS) cost more.
Is the new Kodiaq available as a plug-in hybrid?
Yes — for the first time the Kodiaq is offered as a plug-in hybrid (the iV), with over 75 miles of electric range alongside the 1.5 e-TEC petrol, 2.0 TSI petrol and 2.0 TDI diesel engines.
How big is the new Skoda Kodiaq boot?
Huge. Five-seat models offer 910 litres, expanding to 2,105 litres with the rear seats folded. Seven-seat versions give 340 litres with all rows raised and 2,035 litres folded flat.
What is the fuel economy of the Kodiaq 1.5 e-TEC?
The official combined figure is around 44.5mpg. Expect high-30s in everyday mixed driving — the mild-hybrid system helps in town but it remains a large, heavy SUV.
Is the new Kodiaq bigger than the old one?
Slightly — the second-generation car is 4,758mm long with more interior space, a bigger boot and a more upmarket cabin than its predecessor.
