0–60 mph
The 0–60 mph time is the standard benchmark for acceleration: how many seconds a car takes to reach 60 mph from rest. It’s the headline performance number because it captures real-world getaway pace in one figure. But treat it as a guide — test conditions are idealised, and for everyday driving the 30–70 mph “in-gear” time (overtaking pace) matters more than the launch.
Example
Under 6 seconds is properly quick; 8–10 seconds is brisk for a family car; over 12 feels leisurely on slip roads.
