Overview

The Audi Q6 e-tron is the car that finally brings 800-volt charging to Audi's mainstream range. Built on the new Premium Platform Electric co-developed with Porsche — the same architecture under the electric Macan — it slots between the Q4 and Q8 e-tron with sharp looks, a tech-laden cabin and charging speeds that embarrass most rivals.

The UK range opens at £59,975 for the 83 kWh rear-wheel-drive model: 292 bhp, 0–62 mph in around 7.0 seconds, a 130 mph top speed and 339 miles of official range. Step up to the 100 kWh Performance (£63,475) for up to 392 miles, or choose quattro all-wheel drive and the 510 bhp SQ6 e-tron (0–62 mph in 4.3 seconds, 275 miles). The 800 V system charges at up to 270 kW — 10–80% in 21 minutes — and clever bank charging splits the battery so it can still fast-charge on older 400 V chargers.

Inside is pure concept-car: a 14.5-inch MMI touchscreen running Android Automotive, an 11.9-inch virtual cockpit, an optional 10.9-inch passenger display and an augmented-reality head-up display. At 4,771 mm long with a flat floor, rear space is generous, and Audi's five-year, 90,000-mile warranty beats the Germans' usual three.

It is not cheap, and the styling is conservative next to a Polestar or a Model Y. But as a complete package — range, charging, tech and build quality — the Q6 e-tron is one of the most convincing premium electric SUVs on sale.
