Overview

The Nissan Ariya is the brand's electric flagship — a sleek, lounge-like SUV that moved Nissan's EVs firmly upmarket from the Leaf. The UK range opens with the Advance 63 kWh at £41,845: 215 bhp, front-wheel drive, 0–62 mph in 7.5 seconds and 223 miles of official range.

Most buyers will look at the Evolve 87 kWh at £45,990 instead: 242 bhp, 0–62 mph in 7.6 seconds, a 100 mph top speed and up to 322 miles of range. All-wheel-drive e-4ORCE versions add a second motor for extra traction and pace. At 4,595 mm long, the Ariya sits squarely in the family-SUV heartland.

The cabin is the Ariya's party piece: a minimalist Japanese-lounge design with dual 12.3-inch displays, haptic touch controls hidden in the wood-effect trim and flat-floor spaciousness. ProPILOT driver assistance with Navi-link comes standard on most trims.

Rivals include the Volkswagen ID.4, Toyota bZ4X and Skoda Enyaq. The Ariya is the comfort-led choice — quieter and plusher than most — though the entry car's 223-mile range looks modest next to newer rivals.

Frequently asked questions

Which Nissan Ariya should I buy?
The Evolve 87 kWh (£45,990) is the sweet spot: 322 miles of range versus just 223 from the 63 kWh Advance. Only choose the smaller battery if your mileage is low and the price saving matters.
What is the real-world range of the Ariya?
Around 180–200 miles for the 63 kWh and 260–290 miles for the 87 kWh in mixed UK driving. Winter will trim 15–20% off both figures.
What is e-4ORCE?
Nissan's dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, which splits torque between the axles in milliseconds for better traction and flatter cornering. It adds pace but trims range slightly.
How long does the Ariya take to charge at home?
On a 7.4 kW home wallbox, roughly 9 hours for the 63 kWh battery and 12–13 hours for the 87 kWh from empty. The Ariya also supports DC rapid charging for quicker public top-ups.
Is the Ariya bigger than a Qashqai?
Yes — at 4,595 mm long it is a class above the Qashqai, competing with the X-Trail for space while offering a completely flat floor thanks to the electric platform.
