Overview
The Nissan Juke practically invented the small crossover craze in Britain, and the updated model keeps the formula fresh with bolder styling, a much-improved interior and — most importantly — an efficient hybrid powertrain built in Sunderland. It remains one of the most characterful small SUVs you can buy.
The 1.6-litre hybrid pairs a petrol engine with an electric motor for 143PS and genuinely impressive economy: well over 50mpg is realistic in town driving, where it often runs on electricity alone. The multi-mode automatic takes a little getting used to, but around town the Juke is nippy, easy to park and cheap to run — exactly what its buyers want.
The facelift finally fixes the old car's cheap-feeling cabin, with a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen and smarter materials on higher trims. Rear space is still snug for adults and the boot is modest, but as a stylish, affordable first step into SUV ownership with hybrid economy, the Juke makes a compelling case.
