HEV
A Hybrid Electric Vehicle — often called a “full” or “self-charging” hybrid — pairs a petrol engine with an electric motor and a battery charged by the engine and regenerative braking. It can creep in traffic and cruise gently on electricity alone, delivering 50–65 mpg around town with no plugging in. It’s the sweet spot for drivers who want lower fuel bills without any charging hassle.
Example
Toyota’s hybrids are the textbook HEVs: around 60 mpg in town driving, no charger needed, proven over millions of cars.
